What is Sexual OCD?

This form of OCD involves intrusive thoughts or doubts about one’s sexual orientation or identity that feel confusing, distressing, and unwanted. These thoughts are not reflective of true identity but are driven by anxiety and uncertainty. Individuals may engage in compulsions such as checking their reactions, seeking reassurance, or mentally reviewing past experiences to “find certainty.” These patterns can lead to significant distress and interfere with a person’s sense of self.
